Here is
Prudence's recipe for natural moth repellent that has been
passed around the Siskiyou Spinners group....
1 c.
lavender leaves
1 c.
southernwood*
1/3 c.
peppermint leaf
2 t.
orris root (the kitty litter looking preparation rather than powdered)
1/8 t.
lavender oil
*Southernwood was not available at the well stocked natural foods store in
Ashland (called Alchemy Botanicals) where I bought my supplies. They
suggested mugwort as an alternative and it seems to do the trick.
Mix well
and put in a glass jar. Stir or shake once a week for 2 weeks, then let
set for 6 more weeks. When ready to use, put in small paper or cloth bags
(you can get bouquet garni cloth bags, which work well, at any good
kitchen store). Distribute bags among wool. Lasts 3-12 months. Store
excess in tightly covered jar.
